The melodically driven music behind tough urban beats brings thoughts of Jazz, Chillout Music, IDM, Hip Hop and R & B all coming together for a morning of cocktails and a jam session and the result is a magical blend of all.
Headtron is a boutique music company founded in 2010 by Alex Becket in Los Angeles California, comprised of music producers, musicians, visual artists, videographers, designers, builders, and more. They strive to create next level electronic music made by original artists. Muti Music has already had the honor of working with Stephan Jacobs, very special guest ill-esha, +verb, ChrisB. and Sugarpill on EPs and remixes that all brought new takes on the ‘West Coast Sound’. Having been performing as an MC/Beatboxer since he was a teenager, Nico also puts those skills to work in his DJ sets to create a live element and raise the vibes.

ALBUM NOTESWhile his formative years were spent listening to everything from Yes to Photek, Scott Hansen didn’t get his hands on an actual guitar or drum machine until he left his native Sacramento for San Francisco in 1995.
“Encountering this whole new world at 20 years old was a profound experience,” says Hansen, better known by his musical pseudonym Tycho and as the graphic artist ISO50. “At the time, I was just learning the processes of design and music; both felt very similar, and have flowed back and forth for me ever since.”As seamless as his two creative outlets have been, nearly a decade passed before the release of Hansen’s first proper Tycho LP, Sunrise Projector (later expanded and reissued under the title Past Is Prologue). And while three striking singles have emerged since then, the sum of all those sepia-toned parts is nowhere near the double-exposed soundscapes of Dive.
The product of a prolonged break from IS050’s design work and blog, it pays tribute to Tycho’s prismatic past (the dense, guitar-guided turning points of “Daydream” and “Adrift”) but spends most of its time pointing to the project’s not-so-distant future.That can mean any number of things, really, from the halcyon hooks and hopeful horizons of “A Walk” to the expansive, wildly expressive tone poetry of the title track, an eight-minute epic that unfolds like a compressed concept album. Or at the very least, a restless vision of prog-rock��—one that’s been coated in neon colors and filtered through a thick piece of blotter paper.
And then there’s “Elegy,” a spare curtain closer that pairs a vulnerable crescendo with a fitting bridge to future works.And with that, Dive establishes its position as the most diverse musical statement of Hansen’s multi-medium career; the point where his skills as a performer finally catch up with his vaporized vision of a world that doesn’t belong to any particular time or place.“Nostalgia is a common thread in my work,” says Hansen, “but this album wasn’t driven by that idea. I see these songs as artifacts from a future which might have more in common with our past than our present.”

Glorious Dystopia is as much a display of where Great Scott has come as a producer as it is a deep and emotional reflection of humanity and our surroundings. Dystopia Movement’s 1 & 2 are so beautiful they rip your heart wide open with emotion, the EP otherwise ranges from the intense and even edgy, but always flowing and with glimpses of introspection. Uplifting moments abound in Mad Hydraulic Bounce and My Sashimi that would rage fans of Pretty Lights, STS9 as much as they would a breaks dancefloor.

Great Scott is the host of “MK Ultra,” on KTRU in Houston, is a regular on NSB Radio, has also been a resident DJ in China and was one of the NuSkoolBreaks radio DJs at WMC 2009. Recently Scott also founded and launched a new online radio show, Glitch. FM, which has fast become the centerpiece radio station for the emerging genres of wonky, glitch hop, lazer bass, turbo crunk, acid crunk and whatever else you’d like to call the new edgy instrumental hip hop and breakbeat scenes. Strongly inspired by the sounds of old-school big beat and breaks, including the likes of Fluke, The Prodigy, and Rabbit In The Moon, Scott is constantly attempting to fuse the sounds of the old with that of the new, while trying to achieve a delicate balance between producing music that's meant to make people move, with that which inflicts various emotions and imagery.

Equally talented as a multi-genre producer (Uptempo Dubstep / West Coast Crunk / Glitch House) and as a massive crowd rocker, Stephan Jacobs has appeared at some of the world’s most prominent music festivals (Coachella) alongside a slew of genre defining artists. When he’s not forging a personal stake hold in the electronic dance music community, he also works on the collaborative project Kether, pushing his list of accomplishments into the forefront of the industry. In 2006, Stephan Jacobs and Tim Hauser (Ruff Hauser) teamed up to form Kether. Their mutual passions for music fueled their ambitions to build a unique live experience that has beckoned enthusiastic followers after the first listen. They quickly established their place on the forefront of the West Coast Electronic scene, playing alongside Shpongle, Tipper and Glitch Mob.

Love and Light is comprised of the musical talents of Matt Madonna and Ryan Anderson, hailing from the high desert region of the Reno/Tahoe Basin. Creating music that touches their hearts and elevates their souls, the duo’s goal is the uplifting of people across the world through melodic synth lines, complex chord structure, intricate rhythms, and funky, chunky bass lines.
Having a strong basis in midtempo bass music, the span of their production talents are limitless, crossing into the realms of melodic dubstep as well as half-time drum and bass and four-on-the-floor bangers. Whether it is sweaty club, a beautiful outdoor festival setting or enjoying a night at home in the lab, Love and Light music moves humans in a vibrant and deeply conscious way.

The Swedish/Turkish media hype with the catchy name made a massive debut in July 2010 with their globally trend-setting “Summer Collection” mix CD and bootleg remix vinyl singles. This was followed by chart-topping digital and vinyl EPs on labels like Baroque, Doppelgaenger and Impulsa in the fall. This, the premiere full-length album, features both brand new material as well as work from the previous EPs in a 54 minute package of fun, romantic, living-room friendly tech-house.

The Glitch Mob - the Los Angeles-based trio comprising Justin Boreta, Ed Ma, and Joshua Mayer - continues their forward movement into 2011 after its most successful year yet. Boreta, Ma, and Mayer came together around 2006, passing through various members until settling on this core trio of instrumentalists/producers. Together, they combined their different skills and aesthetics into the compellingly collaged whole that has become one of the most beloved live electronic acts, and distinctive recording artists, working today.

The Glitch Mob are gearing up to release some of their most innovative new music yet. A 3-song EP entitled "We Can Make The World Stop." It's all a triumphant extension of the excitement that followed upon 2010's release of Drink The Sea, the Mob's debut artist album, which rose to unexpected heights amidst already heightened expectations, with fans following as the band pushed into uncharted boundaries, yet still emerging victorious.

Put out via The Glitch Mob's own Glass Air imprint, Drink The Sea represented the group's growth up from the underground into a full widescreen vision. From the cosmic cover art by Sonny Kay (famed for his haunting imagery for Mars Volta) to the cathartic, psychedelic, unclassifiable grooves it holds inside, Drink The Sea would launch a whole new phase in the group's evolution upon its 2010 worldwide release. The album's first single, "Drive It Like You Stole It," sped to the top of the most popular songs on Hype Machine's charts, clearing the road for a number of successes to follow. Drink The Sea would land at #15 in its first week on the Billboard Dance Chart, while the Mob became the #1 most added on CMJ's "RPM" charts, debuting in the top ten. Drink The Sea would also rise into iTunes' top Electronic Album charts, hitting #1 numerous times, cementing it as one of the year's best-selling independent electronic albums. That success allowed The Glitch Mob to perform headlining tours built around major international festival appearances that, in addition to Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Ultra, spanned Sasquatch, Camp Bisco, Electric Daisy Carnival, Electric Zoo and Nocturnal Wonderland as well as Wireless Festival in the U.K. and Parklife in Australia. "After writing Drink The Sea, we spent a lot of time touring - two national tours, Europe, and Australia," Boreta says. "While on the road, we were bursting with inspiration and ideas for the next phase in the evolution of our sound."

This was the year where The Glitch Mob learned the expanse and commitment of its community like never before when the band initiated a wide-ranging charity project via Drink The Sea's ambitious remix project to benefit post-earthquake Haiti. Over two volumes, landmark artists such as King Britt, DJ Vadim, Eprom, Salva, ESKMO, and Kastle, among others, remixed Drink The Sea's original material into 24 tracks whose sale aids tragedies around the globe. "That was a milestone for us - our first foray into getting our music involved with a cause we believe in," Boreta said. "We realized there's no better time than the present to use the power of music to create awareness."

The Glitch Mob supplemented this activity with a series of staggering remixes for other artists, including an official remix commissioned for Daft Punk's Tron Legacy Reconfigured project, joining the likes of Moby, M83, Boys Noize, Com Truise, Photek, and Pretty Lights. Other recent official Glitch Mob remixes included those for TV on the Radio, Linkin Park, and Ed Banger's Krazy Baldhead; those tracks, along with original material from Drink The Sea, found themselves in key placements for television shows ("CSI," "Damages," "America's Got Talent"), film (Captain America, Tim Burton's "9"), and commercials for GoPro and Fiat, among others, injecting Glitch Mob's subversive presence into mainstream pop culture.

As such, The Glitch Mob similarly tweaked expectations in mixtape mode with the follow-up to their beloved 2009 Crush Mode ("Grab the Crush Mode mixtape. One of the first things to really get my blood going," raved New Yorker critic Sasha Frere-Jones). For 2010, the Mob collaborated with clothing line Mishka to present Drink The Sea Part II, which featured familiar acapella raps and vocal samples from the likes of Jay-Z, Nas, Lil Wayne, Drake, Dr. Dre, Mobb Deep, Fabolous, Young Jeezy, La Roux, M.I.A. and Daft Punk tailored to Glitch Mob beats. "We explored a lot of new techniques musically and technically," Boreta says of the post-Drink The Sea projects. "They also effectively served as a creative exercise in envisioning where the next album will go."

Liquid Stranger returns to Interchill loaded with two heavy hitting albums for 2011. The album format doesn’t lend itself to four-on-the-floor electronic dance music. There’s no recreation of the seamless, intoxicating thrill one finds in a night out dancing, and less savvy folk might find the idea of listening to an hours worth of repetitive, seven-minute-plus, machine music to be, frankly, boring. But they probably haven’t listened Mark E’s Stone Breaker, which is riveting in its primal simplicity. From the opening, gut-punching kick drums of “Archway” through the ecstatic triplets of closer “The Day,” Stone Breaker means business. It’s a record of pace and determination, full of classic house touchstones and steady, almost militant tempos, a reminder that electronic dance music is supposed to be forceful, if not altogether mean. Not once does it break its step or err from its course�—it owns you, your body, and your mind from beginning to end.

Of course, it wasn’t supposed to be an album. When Wolverhampton-reared, Birmingham-based Mark found himself with some free time in mid-2010, he hit a stride in his productions, and an assortment of tracks that could have easily wound up on various 12-inches started to pile up. Almost by accident, Stone Breaker came into existence, full of confident, darkroom house that owes as much to Chicago as it does to the cosmos.

Percussion-wise, there’s not much diversity here, but that’s really the point: bombarding your inner cranium with hypnotic, earthquaking acid loops (“Belvide Beat”), their hi-hats and snares sounding more like weaponry than musical instruments. But, there’s also plenty of warmth�—buoyant, spine-tickling jazz chords (“Black Moon,” “Oranges” ); floaty, staring-at-the sun disco dances (“Black Country Saga,” “Quatro”) and staticky, soul-drenched curveballs (“The Day”), all of which elevate Stone Breaker from a great set of DJ tracks to a great set ff tracks for anyone, anywhere.

OILPANIC BIO:
Hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden, Hjalmar Hake (Oilpanic) has been actively making electronic music since the early nineties. He has released music on Waveform records as well as on Blipswich Digital and has a great deal of works widely circulated across the web. Hake began his explorations into electronic music in the 1990s as a part of the Swedish experimental electronic group The Rotten Beak. His new projects under the Oilpanic alias bring together the forward-thinking, no-holds-barred creativity absorbed from his early experiences with a well-defined stylistic take on techno, electro and tech-house.

SYMBIO BIO:
Stephen Holland-Chang (Symbio) is label manager and chief curator of 530Techno. A DJ/Producer based in rural northern California, Symbio has always been about the integration of diverse sounds and influences to move the body on the dancefloor and keep the mind expanding. Early opening sets mix old school electro, new wave, SF ambient, IDM and
b-more breaks. While his late night sets venture into heavy doses of crunk laden tech-house, acid, dub techno and deep house. He has played alongside such renowned artists as Android Cartel, Lilyanne, Kid Kameleon, Jason Short & Ripley.

Eight years of djing and producing parties with Anna Talbott as Future/Now and Sean Michael Yoder (aka The_abstract_terrorist) of VinylJunkie PR have provided him with a solid knowledge for what keeps the music and the
scene evolving. Holland-Chang and Yoder have been partnering on several exciting projects in 2011. These include The CONDUIT // Podcast, which features exclusive mixes from fresh and legendary international talent like Christ Fortier, Monopolar, Signal Deluxe, Derek Marin and Android Cartel) and Zocalo, a monthly get together of local artists/djs/producers set to a soundtrack of fresh and vintage mid-tempo/chillout designed to get communication flowing.

His own productions build on a solid 4/4 tech house and techno foundation giving way to a unique mixture of weird polyrhythmic insectoid noises, bouncing sub bass and organic tribal textures. Inspired by pioneers, New Order,
Skinny Puppy, Meat Beat Manifesto, Autechre, The Orb, Basic Channel and Aphex Twin, as well as the new breed of techno coming from labels Droid, Blipswitch Digital, New Kanada, Thoughtless, Mothership and Auralism, Symbio strives to create fresh dance floor fillers that fuse field recordings and found sounds with psychedelic noises and the latest
in synth technology.

“I am inspired by new and fresh sounds.” Says Symbio “This is what drew me to this type of

'MaCHiNe', is Mo Rooneh’s first full-fledged album.
Following two concept audio projects and an EP, this is the next phase in the career
of the Dutch composer.
Rooneh’s fascination for industrial sounds characterize his fourth work.
The pneumatic pulsations from inside the metal casings and the noises that transform
into soundscapes, form the basis for the majority of the tracks on this album.
Next to drones and arpeggiated chords, also the frequent use of sample loops and the
overall production give the work it’s mechanical sound structure.

In may 2010 Rooneh started recording bits and pieces and like in a collage he searched
for balance and dynamics.
A time consuming task and a process that left him in doubt on numerous occasions.
The album’s working title, “Songs i’d love to loath, but don’t”, gives an inside in the mind
of the artist during the creative period.

“Phonosynthesis” is an artist album that is meant to showcase the highlights of Chicago based producer J Courage’s Grime and Dubstep productions. This release is also meant to close the chapter on his original work under this alias. He currently has a new project underway. Details on the new project will be available soon. As the head of Trenchant Recordings and Trenchant Dubs, his efforts continue to be split between the business side of running the label, as well as his artist/producer duties. This album showcases some of the most influential American Grime music released from the United States. Tracks such as “Too Deep” featuring East London MC, Shizzle, were much more popular in the UK than at home in the States as Grime struggled to make an impact. Most fans of the track were surprised to learn that it was produced by an American in The United States. Championed by influential DJ’s from Nasty Crew, NuBrandFlexxx, Creepers, and East Connection, J Courage’s early Grime productions were familiar to many throughout the UK scene. Later Dubstep productions such as “Chicago” received radio and club play including play on the legendary RinseFM.
This collection serves as a snapshot of early American Grime and Dubstep from the man behind the Trenchant labels. J Courage will continue to push the boundaries of modern electronic music as his latest project embodies the spirit of many of the genres he has helped deliver to the masses.

"All my ladies in the club, let me see you get CRUNK…” It is quite telling when a male R&B singer's first single from their latest E.P. is a peak-hour up-tempo song designed for dance floor consumption. Seeing as how the E.P. is entitled I Am Indie, it suggests that Tonyé is looking to push past the expectations of contemporary R&B. Originally from Gainesville, Florida, Tonyé wrote and produced “Dance Dirty,” a track devoted to the art of moving butts. Just under three and a half minutes, its filtered acidic stabs, pinpoint bass synths, and uncompromising drum pad thud waste no time separating the wall flowers from those who came to get down. Calling on the Halle Berry and Britney Spears look-alikes in the place, Tonyé spits a story depicting bump and grind sessions under flashing lights where romance was never part of the equation. The accompanying video shows him flanked by a troupe of dancers, all working their way through choreographed moves as strobe effects accentuate their silhouettes. Certainly a section of the R&B community will second-guess Tonyé's motives for releasing this song first, with its European dance leanings flying in the face of stateside expectations of the music. However, there was a time when house, disco and other dance subgenres were regularly included as a part of R&B playlists. Even though “Dance Dirty” is more of a techno-pop hybrid, it remains an acknowledgement of how much broader the music's parameters used to be. As far as club anthems are concerned, one could hear this song blending nicely with “I Gotta Feeling” by The Black Eyed Peas, an example of a dance tune that has garnered universal and worldwide appeal. Born in Tunisia, raised in France, based in New York City, the artist Colette has worked in various media--film, photography, paint and performance--but her greatest conceptual piece is her own life. Over the past four decades she has lived out a narrative of her own creation, one in which she has assumed various personas, guises and identities. Her first rebirth happened in 1978, when she pronounced herself dead, held her funeral at the Mudd Club, and was resurrected as Justine. Working with avant-garde pop pioneer Peter Gordon and his Love of Life Orchestra under the nom de plume Justine and the Victorian Punks, she recorded the "Beautiful Dreamer / Still You" 12-inch and dubbed the music "disco-punk." While the term seemed contradictory at the time, it serves in hindsight as proof of Colette's and Gordon's rightful place within the future-gazing avant-garde.
"Beautiful Dreamer," the soundtrack for the installation series of the same name, opens with the soft lullaby of a music box, and transforms into a mid-tempo disco beat beneath Colette's doe-eyed utterances. Gordon's arrangement progressively heightens the track's intensity, culminating in his wailing saxophone juxtaposed against a lilting choral backing provided by vocalist Shelley Hirsch. Flipside "Still You" is a romanticized cover version of Lucio Battisti's "Ancora Tu." Front-and-center here are Colette's spoken word vocals, first in conversation with Gordon portraying a male lover and, later, dewily repeating, "Leaving you is just... impossible." The single, with its seductive bassline, fully encapsulates the sultry feeling of what might be described as "night music."
Engineered by Jay Burnett, who would go on to record Afrika Bambaataa & the Soul Sonic Force's seminal proto-hip-hop classic "Planet Rock," these two songs were, incredibly, recorded in a single night at Electric Lady Studios. Some 30-odd years after their original release, they sound as compelling and entrancing as ever. Colette and Gordon, then as now, continue to make art ahead of its time.

Glaswegian producer, label owner and globe trotting DJ Graeme Clark, aka The Revenge, takes on Holy Ghost!'s "Say My Name" a song from the duo's EP Static on the Wire that, in its original incarnation, is a lovely, smooth slice of electronic pop. The Revenge re-models the single three times over, into a trio of distinct remixes all bearing his unmistakable signature.
First up is the Revenge Remix, which starts out like a hollowed-out, hall-of-echoes version of its predecessor and then grows bit by bit and synth by syth into a gorgeous swirl. On the Revenge Instrumental, Clark ups the disco ante, removing the vocal melody and replacing it with elements equally as compelling: a classic beat; synthesized strings; double handclaps; and an essential electric bassline. The Revenge Dub available only as a digital single unexpectedly pairs Clark's incomparable disco leanings with vocals steeped in seemingly endless delay.
